Canteen Corner

Wow! What a busy Term 1 we have had in the canteen. The enthusiasm of the students makes our roles lots of fun and very rewarding. They are worth every effort that goes into making delicious food for them.
We are excited to have two volunteers joining us in the next couple of weeks. We would love to have a few more on board if you have some time to spare.
What does a canteen volunteer do?
Easy tasks like:
- Cutting up fruit
- Making sandwiches and wraps
- Preparing “heat and eat” foods (sausage rolls, chicken wedges, etc)
- Wash the dishes – we’re kidding! We have a commercial dishwasher that does that
- Refill the drinks fridge
- Put lunch order stickers on paper bags
- Hand hot food to the students
- Sweep the floor.
You do not have to handle money – sometimes volunteers are discouraged by the thought they might have to add up prices or calculate change – our canteen staff have that part covered so you don’t need to worry about it.
If you would like to volunteer, please follow this link to start the registration process. https://www.mn.catholic.org.au/people/volunteer/
A full day of volunteering in the canteen is 9am – 2pm, however if you only have a few hours, we would still appreciate any assistance you could give. We have two staff members working each day and we’d be happy to show you the ropes.
