Principal's Report

Jonathan Rowe

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to the end of week six. We seem to have packed in an incredible amount of sport, learning and activities into such a short time! At this time it's also opportune to take a moment for reflection on the vibrant community events we have had the privilege to celebrate already this year.

This Friday 8 March on International Women’s Day we celebrate the role of women in society and particularly recognise and honour the enormous contribution of women to Monivae and our community. The theme this year ‘Inspire Inclusion’ encourages everyone to recognise the unique perspectives and contributions of women from all walks of life, including those from marginalised communities.

Last week I joined principals, at Mercy Regional College, Camperdown, from nine of the eleven Catholic secondary schools in the Diocese of Ballarat as well as both Ballarat (DOBCEL) Deputy Directors and the Secondary Education Consultant. As Principals we meet each term to discuss issues we all face in our schools, to share information, celebrate our Catholic identity and support each other. Each term we hold the meeting at a different school and showcase what we are doing well.

Interschool Athletics – Congratulations to those students who participated in our recent Athletics day. We were blessed with some lovely weather and the school oval was a picture. Our focus is on participation and even though some of the events were difficult, students who participated gained points for their House. Every point matters and this can be the deciding factor in determining the winning House. I am extremely proud of all our Monivae students and their behaviour on the day.

Finally, I extend my condolences and the condolences of the Monivae Family to staff member Mel Keith who experienced a recent family bereavement. Mel’s mother Suzanne was buried this week, and we share our love and support with Mel and her family as they adjust to their loss.

Kind regards,

Mr Jonathan Rowe
