Deputy Principal News
Monday marked a milestone in our journey towards literacy excellence as we hosted an enriching symposium for 148 educators from five schools. It was a testament to St Joseph's commitment to fostering a culture of lifelong learning and professional growth alongside local schools. As we gathered for the day, we were reaffirmed in the knowledge that our staff are well-versed in the best practices of literacy instruction. The topics covered throughout the day served to reinforce the exemplary literacy practices already occurring within our school community.
The presentations by Dr. Pamela Snow, Tanya Serry and Dr. Nathaniel Swain resonated deeply with our staff. We were reminded of the intrinsic link between oral language and reading, the complexity of literacy acquisition, and the transformative power of a knowledge-rich curriculum. It was wonderful to witness the collective expertise of our staff, who are not only familiar with these topics, but are actively engaged in implementing evidence-based literacy instruction in their classrooms. It was a reaffirmation of our shared commitment to equipping our students with the essential literacy skills they need to succeed in an ever-changing world.
At the close of day, our staff departed with a renewed sense of purpose and enthusiasm. The day served as a powerful reminder of the impact of effective literacy instruction and the importance of continuous professional development in our pursuit of educational excellence.
We are so proud to have had the opportunity to host the day at St Joseph's and thank our parent community for their ongoing support and understanding to gather together for days such as these.
