Captains' Corner

Abigail Cachart and Royce D'Mello

Welcome back to another year of learning!

My name is Abigail and I am one of your College Captains for 2024. I hope everyone had a wonderful break and that you are ready for a fantastic year ahead.

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome all the new students who have joined us at St John's this year. I would like to also welcome teachers and members of staff that have joined this year.

My vision for this year is to continue to make St John's a community that appreciates the act of giving, and to open our hearts and minds to be servant leaders. To make a difference in the lives of those within our College as well as in the lives of the wider community through our fundraising efforts.

I am excited to be working with the Faith and Mission Captains, House Captains, Homeroom Reps and SRCs to ensure that your opinions, suggestions, ideas and input are deeply valued and genuinely considered.

I would like to congratulate all of you who have participated in the Aquatics carnival and Catholic Education activities, I also encourage all of you to participate in future activities and fundraisers like the Easter raffle and Harmony Day next week. I can't wait to see all the many cultures at St John’s.

Take care and God bless,

Abigail Cachart

The Year 12 Retreat has finally come around! As our seniors approach their graduation, it is essential to realise the importance of 'finding yourself' in preparation for adulthood. Life outside of the College will be unique to each student and is shaped around the unique character that has been built up on throughout their lives.

This Retreat serves as a time of reflection for our students to look back upon the past six years of College life, cherishing the many experiences and people that have formed who we are today. With the help of the Lasallian Dream Team, we were guided through our own spiritualities and values of De La Salle, to contemplate the deeper meanings of our individual beliefs.

Over the course of the three days, the senior cohort affirmed their connections to their peers and the past, learning how to hold on to what matters most. In sharing meals for one of the last times, we sought to strengthen the relationships between us and find a way to indulge in each other's presence once more. The St John's community has provided students with memories of love that will last far into the future, and it is in this event that students truly see how integral that is to their development. This final camp was more to us than just fun, as we embraced the invitation to mature ourselves and each other through love and prayer. Overall, a trip full of moments to never forget.
