Inquiry - Social Justice

Over the past few weeks, we have been looking at different social justice issues within our world. The students were asked to choose one social justice issue that they wanted to raise awareness of. As a provocation, we set up different art work that depicted a social justice issue. Students walked around the room and wrote down what social justice issue they thought it was addressing. This was a great lead into the next task that allowed them to create their own art work that portrays the social justice issue of their choice! We have been so impressed with how engaged our students have been with this topic! Great work grade 5/6 !

Epilepsy Day & Kinnect to dance

On Tuesday the 26th of March, people from around the world are asked to spread the word about Epilepsy by wearing purple. Purple day is a day dedicated to increasing awareness about people living with Epilepsy. Thank you to Harper who spoke beautifully to our whole school to spread awareness of Epilepsy. Here is a small part of what Harper shared with us:

I have dravet syndrome which is a rare form of epilepsy. This means that I have seizures and cannot do some things that you can. Purple day is about recognising people with epilepsy and talking about ways that you can help look out for people like me and talking about why they have seizures.

On this same day, we had our kinnect to dance performance. Well done to all of our students for getting up and giving it their best go! It was so lovely to see the big smiles on everyone's faces! You should all be really proud of your efforts :)

Camp

Just a reminder that the Year 5/6s will be taking off for Camp in Week 1 next term. We sent home a hardcopy note and list of what to bring yesterday so please take some time to have a look at it over the school holidays.

It is most important that the children bring at least 2 pairs of runners and also multiple changes of clothes as it can be a very muddy and wet adventure camp!

Also, if your child requires any medication during the camp, please return the Medication form that was sent home.

We are so excited for lots of fun to be had!

Thank you for a great Term 1 !

Have a fabulous holidays and we can't wait to see you back for Term 2!
