Year 1 Excursion

Year 1 Excursion to Scienceworks

To finish off a wonderful Term 3, our Year 1 students enjoyed an exciting excursion to Scienceworks on Wednesday 16th September. Students participated in the ‘Blast Off: Mission to Mars’ workshop, where they discovered how rockets work and explored the forces of pushes, pulls and gravity. Through exciting demonstrations and rocket launches, students learnt about what it might be like to travel and live in space, as well as how astronauts could one day land on Mars.

Students also had the opportunity to explore a range of interactive exhibitions, including the Pumping Station, where they discovered how water has been managed and moved; Beyond Perception, where they explored how our senses can sometimes trick our brains; Think Ahead, which encouraged students to imagine and explore possibilities for the future; and Sportsworks, where they investigated the science behind movement, sport and the human body. The interactive exhibits provided plenty of opportunities for students to touch, test, experiment and discover.

It was a wonderful day of hands-on learning, curiosity and exploration, and the students thoroughly enjoyed the experience. They returned to school full of excitement, new knowledge and stories to share about their scientific adventures!

Here is what the Year 1 students had to say about the excursion:
