An Update on Cowcium (Picasso Cow Competition)- student quotes.

I liked painting it because I picked the colours which I liked. I learned that you have to milk cows everyday. 

Kyra (FK)

I like making different designs on the cow. I learned that not just milk and cheese can be made from cows. Cows drink a lot of water everyday. 

Dylan (FK)

I learned that the farmers use a special machine to get the milk from the cow. I enjoyed it because you get to design the cow. 

Avie (2SL) 

I learned that the cow has four stomachs, not just one. Cows have special numbers on their legs so when it's milking time the machine identifies the cow and it will be milked. What I enjoyed about designing the cow was that a specific part of my design gets to be on the cow and everyone can see it. 

Aahan (2SL)

We have been learning about cows, and how cows make milk, cheese and other useful things we eat or drink in everyday life. We have also been creating the designs on little cows (on paper) to build a picture of the final design for our cow. I really enjoy this. I drew ice cream and whipped cream on cakes to show some of the things cows help produce.  

Judy (4J) 

In art, I have experienced many skills of the miraculous process of the grass to fridge. It isn't just the milk from the cow that is put into a container and Boom! First the cow needs to eat the grass and travel through the digestive system, absorbing the goodness and processing this until it reaches the cows udder. Here the milk is collected and transported to the factory where it is dematerialised and put into milk cartons. It's then transported to the supermarkets. Milk is also mixed until it is heavy and can be heated to get cheese. Here it travels along a conveyor belt and is processed into cheese. I think our cow should show the process of milk and cheese.

I learned how cows made milk and how it transfers to shops. My favourite thing about the cow so far is the name making and the painting of the cow. I am looking forward to seeing the result of the cow. I hope we will win the competition! Go Cowcium! 

Rachel (6K) 

I learnt about the process of milking a cow to buy it in a supermarket! All about the dairy farmers. I love drawing and painting cows. This whole thing has been so amazing and I will remember this for a long time. I also loved the mini cows (3D printing) which the Foundation students painted (especially because I get one at the end of term!). I have loved this and I am happy that I got to do this during my primary school experience.

What does it sound like?

Friendly chatter, supportive conversations and determination to achieve the next stitch. 

What does it look like?

Students demonstrating resilience and perseverance whilst learning or fine tuning a life skill. Fine motor skills being developed. Hand eye coordination being tested and built upon. 

What does it feel like?

Focussed, peaceful, supportive community.

What’s next?

All students who participated in Sewing Club during the year but have not yet finished their plushie, are invited to the Visual Arts room at lunch time on Thursdays next term.
