ASC Football Program – Current Winter season
The All Saints’ College Football program saw the commencement of our partnership with Canning City Football Club, as teams across Junior and Senior Schools had their first round of Football West fixtures on Sunday 21 April 2024. Under the expert guidance of J&J Football Training, our talented students have been dedicated to developing their skills and tactical gameplay understanding throughout the recent pre-season and, as a result, showcased tremendous teamwork, skills and enthusiasm during their first official fixture.
The incredible support we receive from our school community continues to drive this program forwards, and this consistent encouragement has helped not only to fuel our players’ determination to improve, but also to compete with sportsmanship and the College values on show.
Fixtures continue throughout Terms 2 and 3 every Sunday morning at various locations across the Perth metro area.
Message from the Rowing Club
Reflections on the 2023 season and a look ahead to 2024
We are now five weeks into our Learn to Row program and we have hit our capacity for numbers in our squad. Whilst ASC Rowing is a competitive program, we are above all an inclusive program. This means students of all abilities, ages and strengths join, train and compete with us, and we have been super impressed with both our senior and junior rowers in 2024. All Saints’ College is especially lucky to have exclusive access to the Curtin University Boat Club as its home base for training, and for the first time in four weeks our launching area is quiet as every single rower, regardless of experience, is out on the Canning River and looking good!
Many of our rowers took advantage of the opportunity to train all the way through the summer holidays, and recently reflected on what they enjoyed about the 2023 season.
Holly McGuire writes:
The 2023 rowing season has been one of the best and an extremely enjoyable extracurricular. It gives me a break from the stress of school, but also builds my character and pushes me to my limits. Every portion of rowing has been something to remember, from the beautiful waters to the tough competitions, and I am grateful to be beside rowers and coaches with passion and teamwork, which is important to me in the sporting world. Some key things I have gained include a way of fitness in many ways, such as rowing itself and the strength and conditioning side too. As I said earlier, I have also gained a community of coaches and teammates who are there for me and want the best for me. I’ve also enjoyed the competition this season, with many challenges I put myself up to, winning myself a medal and some personal bests. I have also really enjoyed the post-season holiday rowing which lasted me through the 2023-24 holidays. Holiday training gave me something to do and helped me stay fit and on top of my rowing skills, which is important to me and made me feel active and happier. This incredible season and holiday training wouldn’t have happened without our incredible and dedicated coaches, who I feel have helped everyone on the team excel in their own way and give us the motivation and support we need. I am excited to see how the 2024 season plays out.
Alicia Garvey writes: I have been rowing with All Saints’ for almost a year and started out participating in the Learn to Row program. During this time I have been involved in three regattas and one State Championship. Being a part of the rowing club has helped me make new friends and achieve success in something I’m passionate about. Training throughout the whole year and school holidays helps me maintain a high level of fitness and build on my skills. I find rowing fun and rewarding and I’m looking forward to what the club can achieve this year.
We also wish Ella Riches (Year 11), who trains at Fremantle Rowing Club (FRC), all the best as she heads off to Nationals in Week 8. She will represent All Saints’ College in the Schoolgirls’ Single Scull race, and we eagerly look forward to seeing her results in her events.
