Year 9 Science | New Metrics Coding project
It was a pleasure to welcome The Most Revd Kay Goldsworthy AO DD Archbishop of Perth to the School this morning to speak with our senior students about The Purple Bench Project and bless the two purple benches that will sit in our grounds to honour all victims of family and domestic violence (FDV). The month of May draws attention to FDV and the need to address this significant issue in our communities.
Archbishop Kay visits the School
Overseen by Chaplain Justine, the Chapel Prefect Arthlay and several senior students and sacristans were keen to raise awareness by supporting this project as our 2024 Lent Event. Staff and students wore purple accessories and donated a gold coin to raise money for the purchase of two benches and also for Anglicare. Linking with the Diocesan Family and Domestic Violence Working Group who provided the plaques and receiving a kind donation of paint from Dulux, the benches were painted on the lawns outside the Chapel.
This morning, Years 11-12 and staff circled the benches in the Chapel garden as a sign of solidarity against FDV as the benches were blessed by Archbishop Kay. It was a special moment.
With best wishes
