From the Director of Senior School (Teaching and Learning) – Ms Shannon Armitage

COURSE CHANGES

Please note that Semester 1 course changes for students in Years 9-12, are no longer possible. Year 12 students who wish to withdraw from a subject still have until August to make their final decision. The next opportunity for Year 11 students to make course changes will be in Week 8 of Term 2, immediately following the Semester 1 examinations. Year 9 and 10 students may request changes to Semester 2 options, at the end of this semester.

YEAR 11 AND 12 SEMESTER 1 EXAMINATIONS – 20 May – 31 May

The Semester 1 examinations for Year 11 and 12 ATAR Students will commence on Monday 20 May and conclude on Friday 31 May.  A copy of the exam timetable is available on MyASC in the Year 11-13 information page under Exam Information.

Further information regarding exam arrangements will be emailed to families in due course, students will also attend a pre-exam briefing during a PEP Period.  Please note the exam timetable, once published, is final and changes cannot be made to examination times.  Students are not permitted to complete exams early for any reason, and if illness prevents attendance, 'make-up' exams are not possible. In the event of an illness (and upon receipt of a medical certificate), the student's mark and grade will be calculated from other assessments.

Please email any communication relating to the Year 11 and 12 examinations to Mr Shackleton, Assistant Director of Senior School (Teaching & Learning).

YEAR 11 THREE-WAY INTERVIEWS

The Year 11 Three-Way Interviews, on Monday 10 June (4.00pm - 8.00pm) will be virtual (online) conducted through Microsoft Teams.

Parents who have a request for contact from a teacher in the Interim Report (released on Friday 24 February) are encouraged to make an appointment to see the relevant staff.  If no contact has been requested in the report it is not essential to attend the interviews, but parents are welcome to book an interview time.

The booking system will be available via the Parent Gateway on MyASC from Tuesday 21 May at 4.00pm until Wednesday 5 June.

Year 10 accelerated students (enrolled in Year 11 courses) and parents are invited to attend the Year 11 Interviews, but it is not essential unless there is a concern regarding their progress.

Further information on booking interviews and joining the Teams interview can be found on MyASC

Please be in touch with the Curriculum Support Team should you have any questions or concerns regarding the Three-Way Interviews.

Updates and Announcements Around Campus

Laptop purchase opportunity

The College is pleased to be able to offer for sale Lenovo notebook computers that have been used for the past three years by College staff. These computers are offered on an ‘as is’ basis. They have been checked by our College ICT team to be functionally sound and operational, but may/will have ‘wear and tear’ (including marks and scratches) consistent with being used by staff for three years. Given licensing restrictions, the devices will not have any application software installed (e.g. no Microsoft Office, no Adobe Creative Cloud etc). The computers will have the Microsoft Windows – Professional or Home Edition as the installed operating system (rather than Windows Enterprise version used by College notebooks).

Each of the devices is offered with a standard power supply but come without the following:

  • Warranty
  • Support (this offer does not include advice from TSC as the devices will be a personal, not College-owned, device)
  • Insurance (either direct or implied)
  • Software (aside from Windows)
  • Accessories (such as a stylus, external keyboard, mouse)
  • Guarantee of battery life
  • Bag or case
  • Connection items (such as cables etc)

The devices can be purchased on a ‘first come, first serve’ basis, until our limited supply is exhausted. A total of 80 notebooks are offered for sale and there are two classifications of the physical condition of each notebook:

Good Condition: Defined (as per an industry standard approach) as being the top lid free from major scratches and marks, and all keys being extant, touchpad free of scratches and the screen free of scratches and ports in verified working order;

Fair Condition: Defined as being operationally sound, but showing some ‘wear and tear’, such as but not limited to scratches on screen, touchpad, paint on keys partially removed, one of the two charging ports non-operational and/or dents or cracks on lid or corners.

Availability of notebooks:

  • Good Condition with 16 Gb RAM Memory $440 inc GST
  • Fair condition with 16 Gb RAM Memory $220 inc GST
  • Good Condition with 8 Gb RAM Memory $330 inc GST
  • Fair condition with 8 Gb RAM Memory $165 inc GST

If you wish to express an interest in buying one (limit of one notebook per family) of these notebooks, please email senior.reception@allsaints.wa.edu.au and record your name, student name and your first and second preference for the notebook condition you would like eg Fair Condition, 16 Gb. You will be notified if you are successful so you can arrange to collect the device, at which time you will be asked to sign the Terms & Conditions of sale, and pay by credit card.
