It has been an exciting few week for our young learners. This term we are continuing to dive into the world of letters and sounds with the InitiaLit program. Through engaging activities, they are developing the skills of identifying sounds, blending CVC words, forming letters and spelling words using letter sound tiles. Our students are tackling tricky words and mastering letter formations with determination and grit. It has been amazing to see our learners embrace the challenge and persevere!
One sound at a time, our young learners are building the connections between sounds and letters, paving their way for lifelong literacy skills.
They're not just learning in the classroom. Our learners are taking home decodable books to practise at home. Look at their excitement!
These are our learners’ reflection on their progress so far:
“My favourite storybook (from the InitiaLit program) is ‘The Very Hungry Bear’ because it is funny. The Polar Bear is kind, he was sharing.” – Sky
“I enjoy reading books with my friends”, “I’m proud of myself for learning how to read words” – Pranshi
“(I) tried very hard to learn how to read words.” – Awal
“I learned new sounds and it is very fun learning how to write.” – Meera
“My favourite part of InitiaLit is using the sound tiles because I’ve learned a lot of sounds, and it is fun.” - Aveer
