Final goodbye to the Year 12s

This Wednesday will see the last exam for our Year 12 students. With Graduation Evening on the Thursday, this really is the end of high school for these students. I am sure there are many that are celebrating this fact, but there will also be some that will be a bit sad or perhaps even anxious as to what next year will bring.

While these are very normal feelings to be experiencing, and while high school is coming to an end, the 6 year relationship that has developed definitely doesn’t have to end there! We hope to see many of you at Presentation Evening on Wednesday 13th December, there will be dates advertised relating to result release, course offerings and so on, that will be coming up soon; and what we love most is when past students drop in to just say hello. It’s always lovely to hear how you are doing and what you get up to after you leave our school!

School values

The students have made a great start to updating the school values and the main ones suggested have been collated, ready to be sent to staff and families to have a look at and a say on. Keep your eyes peeled for survey that will be coming your way shortly.

Future Maker’s Extensions Program – corrected information

Last week, I incorrectly reported the students who participated in the Extensions programs this year. Zoe went to Nepal, Alex to the Kimberley and Daisy and Lachlan went on the Summit to Sea program.

Fay Mason, our local reporter, came in and interviewed Alex (who was the only student available) and was so impressed with the stories that Alex shared, that she is wanting to speak to the other students and put together a full page story! There was also a request to be radio stars as well, but that might have to be put on hold until after the exams and Advantage programs that are coming up for the Year 10 students.

Planning for 2024

To help us with our planning for next year, to make sure it is as accurate as possible, if you know your child will not be attending Mount Beauty Secondary College in 2024, could you please let us know with either a phone call or email. While we have heard there are a number of students not planning to return, or family holidays planned, we have only officially been told by a small number of those families that have been mentioned. Even if the decision has not been finalised, it will still help with our planning.

Even though we are a small school, we are supporting our senior students with their subject choices as much as we can, offering a total of 36 subjects next year. While some of those are running as a combined class, which many schools are resorting to, it means that students are still able to complete the subjects they are interested in and good at, as well as being able to offer the subjects that often are listed as requirements for tertiary education.
