R U OK Day
R U OK Day!
On Thursday 14th of September Epping Views Primary School recognised ‘R U OK’ Day and the importance of checking in on our friends.
Students completed a variety of activities in their classrooms about how to ask others how they are feeling and what to do to seek help.
During lunch time students were exposed to several fun activities including hacky sack competition, bean bag throwing and other gross motor activities. These activities were facilitated by our JSC members, who also had the privilege of acknowledging others with some random giveaways.
Baseline youth services supported our students during the lunch break to discuss the importance of ‘R U OK’ Day and how to speak to friends and offered the activity of Badge making which was very popular with the students. The staff from Baseline Youth were extremely impressed with our students' knowledge around the day and checking in with others.
It is important to continue the conversation around checking in with others regarding their mental health, as well as asking others for help if we are feeling overwhelmed ourselves.
