From the Head of Sport

Last weekend BMGS hosted the ISA Pre-Season Boys' tournament. This was a great success and I would like to thank all the students and parents who helped to run the canteen and BBQ. I have heard many positive comments from other schools.

Thanks you also to Mr Quilter for hosting the tournament and stepping in to Referee where needed. Your efforts were greatly appreciated.

This weekend we have Round 1 of the 2023/24 ISA Summer sport competition. All students should have collected their uniforms from the uniform shop. Please note we have seven away buses this weekend so make sure that you are on the correct bus before it departs.

I wish all our teams the very best for their first round of games and encourage you all to play hard but play fair.

Congratulations - Athletics

Congratulations this week goes to Keeden Harrison (Year 8) who, in the last holidays, ran an automatic qualifying time in the 2,000m Steeplechase. He has now qualified to compete at the 2024 Australian Athletics Titles in Adelaide. We wish him all the best for his preparation leading up to this event in the Easter holidays.

Basketball Launch Evening

On Wednesday evening BMGS Basketball had their first official launch night. The evening started with a presentation of firsts singlets by Mr Colin Fragar, an ex-BMGS Firsts Basketball player and a long-time supporter of Basketball at BMGS.

This was followed by individual and group photos for the players. The photos will then be used to create playing cards for the players through Starcardz.com. This was a great initiative by Mr Quilter and the night was a big success. Sincere thanks to Mr Quilter, the parents for supplying dinner and our photographers who did not stop and were extremely patient with the students. I am looking forward to seeing all the Basketball cards when they arrive.
