Uniform Expectations

Being a part of the O’Connor Catholic College Community comes with many expectations. One of the expectations we would like to remind all of our community members is the expectation to wear the appropriate uniform. Our Leaders of Wellbeing and PAC teachers have been having many conversations with students regarding this issue.

Our uniform expectations are clearly outlined in the student diary (page 20). Currently we have a significant number of students who are wearing blue Canterbury shorts or even King Gee style work shorts and track pants rather than the O’Connor shorts or tracksuit pants as per the uniform policy. It is important that Leaders of Wellbeing and PAC teachers be able to work with families on such issues. We will continue to address uniform concerns each and every morning and please know that in the coming weeks, if your student is struggling to meet these expectations you will receive a letter asking you to rectify these concerns.

Leather lace up school shoes are a WH&S requirement, especially for students who are in Science labs, Technology rooms, Visual Arts rooms and the Farm. The current trend of wearing canvas Van style shoes does not meet these requirements.

If you need support in meeting these expectations, please do not hesitate to contact your students PAC teacher or Leader of Wellbeing.

We also ask that you ensure your student is in the appropriate uniform for the day. Sports uniform is to ONLY be worn on days where the timetable indicates a practical lesson (OVAL).

All students are required to bring a charged device each and every day to school. This has been an area of ongoing issue in class, the number of students without a device or with a device not ready for learning. Could you please ensure that your child is charging their computers each evening and if need be that bring a charger to school to use when their device is low. Our common goal is for ALL students to have access to the work and to engage in learning 5 lessons a day.

We thank you in advance for your support in this matter.

With regards,
