Leader of Pedagogy

As being part of the system of schools in the Diocese of Armidale, we are utilising the work of Lyn Sharratt in order to guide the professional learning and student learning at O’Connor Catholic College. By utilising the 14 Parameters, both teachers and students are able to engage with learning to grow. 

Two of the core focuses within Lyn Sharratt’s ‘Clarity’ are Parameter 1 - shared beliefs and understanding and Parameter 14 a shared responsibility and accountability of all students in the school. Aligning with the Living Well, Learning Well framework of the Diocese, the parameters are a basis for a way in which teachers engage with the learning in the classroom. Providing opportunities for growth and development with each new interaction. 

Lyn Sharratt visited the Diocese in Term 3, and led professional development around engaging with the parameters. This has provided an opportunity for the staff at O’Connor Catholic College to reengage with the professional reading and consider our learning environments at the school and how we can foster opportunities for growth for all students.

 By sharing the accountability for learning and engagement we are able to collaborate and foster learning at all levels in the school. This has created mentoring conversations through middle leaders and how to engage with both the Literacy Coach and Leader of Pedagogy to develop practice into 2024.
