Uraidla Show

We all had a wonderful time at the Uraidla Show last Sunday. I was so proud of our students who sang in our 3 choirs on the 'big truck' stage. They all showed bravery, supported one another and sang beautifully; we had lots of great comments from onlookers!

We also starred in the art section this year. We received very high praise from the art section conveners:

The standard of the student’s work was easily the best I’ve seen since my involvement in the art section, some ten years or so. The teachers should be commended for their involvement, commitment to the art section, their tuition guidance and their innovation.

Katie’s class exhibited wonderful clay models all brightly painted, Kellie’s a multitude of brightly coloured bowls and Alex’s Year 4/5s created an absolute feast of colour and visual fun with their imaginary beasts.

The Year 2s’ bird sculptures with accompanying pictures and QR codes, which when scanned gave the viewer a rendition of the bird song, were truly exceptional. This display really captivated the throngs that visited the art section throughout the day and set the bar very high for innovation in art displays and audience involvement for the future.

Then there was Sallie’s Year 5/6’s pebble art and paperbark art, collectively making a visual treat for everyone. The ability to use ancient forms such as rounded sedimentary stones and pieces of iconic Australian paperbark to create modern, abstract and recognisable images was a fantastic idea.

Stephen's Year 2/3 class entered the photography and literacy/poetry sections this year,

also receiving praise for their efforts.

And of course, it was great to see so many of our students enter the individual competitions. I loved seeing how students showed such creativity and experimented with cooking, flower arranging, writing, art, and more. Congratulations to the prize winners and to all of our students for 'having a go'.

We're curious!

This term our Learn Stand Give Fly theme is 'curious'. We're having lots of fun creating curious questions and considering the role that curiosity plays in learning.  We've started a curious wall in the gym to explore some of our questions. If you have an answer to these tricky questions and others, feel free to add a response after the assembly on Friday!

Parenting for resilient children

This video about how to foster resilience in children has come highly recommended to me by Chris, last term's Pastoral Care Worker. I encourage you to have a look!

Remembrance Day

Today we gathered to recognise Remembrance Day.  Thank you to our students who were so respectful and spoke thoughtfully about what Remembrance meant to them.

Have a wonderful fortnight, everyone!
