About St Patrick

St Patrick holds immense importance to St Patrick's Tongala for several reasons. Firstly, the church itself, built in 1909 and dedicated to St Patrick, stands as a testament to the central figure of our faith. The church serves as a spiritual hub in the heart of Tongala, reminding us of St Patrick's teachings and his role in spreading Christianity. Moreover, St Patrick's school, established in 1959, pays homage to St Patrick through its logo. The shamrock, which St Patrick used to teach the Trinity, represents the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Celtic Cross, another symbol in our logo, embodies the fusion of Christian faith and pagan symbolism, demonstrating the transformative power of St Patrick's message.

I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

The Catholic Identity Leaders worked with Miss Ras to organise our 'Socktober' day on Tuesday 31st October. The day raised knowledge of and money for Catholic Mission.

Catholic Mission is the Pope’s international Mission agency in Australia.

An international organisation that partners with communities, helping them to flourish by supporting grassroots projects, including healthcare, education, and spiritual care. Our network of religious and lay missionaries operates in Africa, Asia, Europe, Oceania, the Americas. Catholic Mission’s work supports children, communities, and future Church leaders across education, healthcare, and spiritual care.

Here are some photos from the day:

Seven Catholic Social Teaching Principles

Catholic Social Teaching (CST) is rooted in Scripture, formed by the wisdom of Church leaders, and influenced by grassroots movements. It is our moral compass, guiding us on how to live out our faith in the world.

The CST principles which inspire our work are:

  • Human Dignity
  • Common Good
  • Solidarity
  • Subsidiarity
  • Preferred Option for the Poor
  • Care for Creation
  • Participation

Our faith calls us to love God and to love our neighbours in every situation, especially our sisters and brothers living in poverty. Following in the footsteps of Christ, we hope to make present in our unjust and broken world, the justice, love and peace of God.
