Stage 2 and Stage Camps

Last Week Stage 2 attended Sport and Recreation Camp at Douglas park. This was an actioned packed 2 days of Archery, High Ropes, Gorge Swing, Ladder Climbs, and more - all designed to challenge the students.  Thank you to Mrs Murray, Mr Quilter, Mr Webb and Mrs Newton

The  Constructioneers Camp at Bungawarra was the first of its kind for our Stage 3 students.

Throughout this immersive outdoor experience students engaged in a wide variety of activities that included orienteering, mapping, rope tying and using a compass to locate specific places. Each of these activities allowed students to physically examine specific locations, use compasses accurately, follow a procedure to tie a knot, create shelters with tarps, and examine and interpret maps.

Prior to the camp, our students learned how to create catapults and slingshots to make and test at the campsite. Each team worked productively to create their catapult and slingshot prototypes using limited resources to create fully functioning designs.

It was encouraging to see so many students step out of their comfort zone, switch off from technology and work as a team to create some wonderful memories together. Mr Forbes and Mrs Spohr are extremely proud of how all of the children conducted themselves in a positive and helpful manner the entire trip, and we thank Mr Bonser, Mr Robbins, Mr Webb and the parent volunteers for their outstanding assistance.

The learning that took place during these camps was superb – taking children out of classrooms and on these adventures is so key for learning, wellbeing and building relationships.

As our busy Term 4 continues, next week with our Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten students travelling to the Sydney Zoo and next Friday we will be celebrating the 20th Birthday for the Blue Mountains Grammar School Springwood Campus!
