Principal's Message to the School Community

Dear KPS Community

2024 class structure

Planning and preparations are well underway for the 2024 school year. Classroom teacher placements are being finalised and early work on class lists will shortly commence. Our teaching staff spend many hours working on creating well-balanced class groupings. This is a thoughtful and thorough process taking into consideration communication with parents/carers, the wellbeing and educational needs of the children, and teacher knowledge of positive friendship groups.

If parents/carers have any information, they wish to communicate with me about their child’s placement in 2024 they are requested to email me this information by Monday 20th November. (alistair.rayner@education.vic.gov.au). Any parents/carers who sent information last year or earlier this year will still need to send a 2023 email about their thoughts in relation to 2024.The 2024 class structure is being planned as follows:

  • X2 Preps classes
  • X2 Year One classes
  • X2 Year Two classes
  • X4 Year Three/Four classes
  • X4 Year 5/6 classes

Parents/carers are asked to trust the professional judgment and capacity of the teaching staff and school leadership team with these critical placements.

Kindergarten Car Park

I received the following email from our friendly kindergarten staff and I request that this behaviour ceases as the gates at the back of the kinder are for emergency vehicle and contractor use only.

We are having some challenges with our carpark at the moment. It seems to be at the end of the day that there are families from both KPS and OLR parking in our carpark and collecting their school children.

We have also noticed that some KPS families are parking down near the double gates (emergency and contractor access) and allowing their children to go through these gates or lifting them over the gates.

Carparks are notoriously busy places and we are most concerned with the safety of children, we would appreciate you please bringing the parking issue to the attention of your school families.

Kind regards,

Alistair Rayner
