Visual Art

This week in Visual Art we are completing final pieces in our sculpting unit.

Foundation students have taken home their air dry clay and explored Salt Ceramic (they struggled not to think of it as playdough) which they really enjoyed.

Grade one and two students have taken home their painted salt ceramic items and started to explore air dry clay.

Grades three and four students also worked with air dry clay and we learned a lot about how quickly it dries out on a cold day, next to a warm heater! Few saw lots of little flying fingers when we realised what was happening and students managed to very quickly get pieces finished, under a real time crunch.

Some of Mr. Bortolot’s clever students continued working on a collaborative project to create a Face-in-the-Hole photo board for their Macedon Primary Fete photo booth. Remy really drove this project and did a lot of preparatory work last week to set everything up ready for her group to paint it this week. Make sure you come to the fete and bring your camera or smartphone to catch a snap of you and your family on the Macedon Primary “Roller Coaster”! Well done to our ever-creative, team-building super star; Remy and her group.

We have learned so many new things about clay and other kinds of sculpting media already this term.

This week, senior students were able to resume our usual program; where they have a wide range of choices in the art room. We saw drawing and painting as well as sculpting.

Halloween even got a bit of a run.
