Kitchen Garden

3/4 L enjoyed an afternoon in the garden on Wednesday

They busily got to work harvesting vegetables for fresh produce boxes, fed the worms, mixed the compost, washed and re-filled the insect water baths, watered plants and dug up potatoes and planted some more.

Some students chose to get artistic and created some ‘windows to the garden’ drawings.

To end the session, everyone shared their home gardening and cooking experiences, while being treated to some delicious Chocolate and Beetroot Cupcakes from Stephanie Alexander’s latest book ‘Fresh’.

Enjoy the school holidays, I look forward to hearing what you’ve been up to in the kitchen and garden at home.

 Happy cooking and gardening,

Allesha

3/4H & R

On Wednesday morning 3/4 H and R visited the Warrnambool Community Garden. It was a beautiful morning to explore and learn about the garden.

Students helped pot up tiny native warrigal greens seedlings which will eventually be planted out into areas surrounding the old quarry, which has recently been transformed into a natural amphitheater.

We had a tour of the communal garden plots, the kids patch, the native bush garden, the pond and the chooks.

A big thank you the Rob and Heather from the Warrnambool Community Garden for having us visit over the past 3 weeks.

3/4S

Windows to our garden…What can you see through your window?

3/4S spent the afternoon, last Wednesday, drawing with different mediums, what they saw through their mini paper windows.

Everyone chose a different area of the garden to sit, observe and draw. Such varied and creative drawings. A very engaging and creative session.
