Sacred Heart Junior Chef Competition

We were delighted to receive a message from Sacred Heart College which read in part:

"I wanted to express our sincerest gratitude for allowing your students to participate in the Sacred Heart College Junior Chef on Tuesday the 10th October.  This was an opportunity for students to showcase their creative cooking skills and soft skills capabilities.

The students thoroughly enjoyed this event, embracing the fun aspect of showcasing their culinary abilities, whilst adhering to certain criteria which entailed time management strategies, observing strict hygiene/cleaning rituals, effective team collaboration and cohesiveness.

Each student within the team were delegated tasks, so they could meet the Junior Chef criteria of baking and creating incredible scrumptious pancakes for judges to critique on."

Kellie accompanied the children to the event and she was very proud of how the team worked together, supporting one another to complete the task to a high standard. Congratulations Thomas, Sienna, Tayla and Abigail.

Holy Cross Softball Teams Shine on the Field

After a rain-induced delay last week, our Holy Cross softball team finally took to the field on Monday under a clear blue sky. In preparation for the event the children spent numerous lunch breaks practicing their softball skills and learning to play as a team. Once on the field at Dixon Field, the children batted, threw, and caught with enthusiasm. A highlight from the day, as noted by our Year 1 teacher and coach of the girl's team, Jodie, was witnessing significant improvements in the team's batting techniques—especially in how they held and swung the bat. Although we didn't advance to the next division this time around, our Holy Cross teams have every reason to be proud of their commendable efforts. A big thank you goes out to Casey Gaunt for the impeccable planning, organisation, and execution of the event, ensuring a seamless and enjoyable experience for all. Special appreciation is also extended to Ryan Ward for his support and coaching of our boys' team over multiple weeks. Well done to everyone involved!

Upcycled Aprons by the CWA: Stylish Gear for Discovery Educators!

We would like to extend our gratitude to Allison, Helen and Christine from the Country Women's Association for designing and making customised aprons for all the educators in Discovery! The children were very excited to meet the ladies from the CWA and to try on some of the trendy garments. The CWA has also kindly offered to run some specialised Discovery Spaces that engage children in knitting and sewing. We look forward to working with Allison, Helen and Christine soon. Thank you ladies, we are most appreciative.
