Dad's Camp
Dear SKIPPS Parents,
The clocks have changed and term 4 has started which means we are on the last stretch towards Summer and Christmas holidays! Before any of that happens we will of course have the annual Dads Camp!
For the benefit of new parents to the school, over the last 8 or so years, small alternating groups of dedicated Dads have developed a tradition of taking their kids down to Anglesea for a weekend of activities, food, music, movies and general fun in the sun. Over the years the camp has grown from a small group of Dads & kids to almost 350 in 2019.
To be clear, this is NOT a school organised event but a privately coordinated event.
We are happy to confirm that this year’s Dad’s Camp will be held over the weekend of Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd December 2023.
As per last year, the camp will be held in Wye River, at the BIG 4 HOLIDAY PARK on the Great Ocean Road. With beach and mountains as your backdrop, Wye River is a picturesque camping spot. Located right on the beach and just 20 minutes from Lorne, or 35 minutes from Apollo Bay, it's an easy 2-hour drive from Melbourne. The campsite is located behind the famous Wye River General store, café and near the pub which overlooks the incredible beach and rockpools.
A Try-Booking event website will open between 25th-27th October with more details, see below. Fees will include 2 nights camp-site accommodation (BYO Tent & camping gear), breakfast on Saturday & Sunday and catered Dinner on Saturday night. This year’s theme will be ‘fluoro beach party’ and we encourage parents and kids to bring their brightest outfit for the Saturday evening camp photo to add to the fun atmosphere.

Space is always limited therefore sites will be strictly reserved on a first come first served basis. Please remember the booking dates to avoid disappointment. We will attempt to accommodate two families who wish to book as 1 group to be on the same camp site for up to 6 people (two tents max). All-Inclusive pricing for weekend will be $250 for 1 Adult & 1 Child plus additional $100 for each additional child.
IMPORTANT REMINDER: This is not a school event, and no school staff will be in attendance. Parents are responsible for the supervision of their own children at all times, especially around the small river which runs through the middle of the campsite and of course at the beach.
