A message from the Acting Principal

Welcome back to term 4!  I hope that all members of the school community had the opportunity to enjoy some down time over the school holidays and took advantage of some very welcome warm weather and rejuvenating sunshine, although as I type this it is the second day of constant rain and wet day timetables at outside break times. Neil is currently on long service leave enjoying an extremely well deserved extended break. The term ahead is indeed a very busy one with Celebration of the Arts ( COTA),  Year 3/4 camp,  whole school transition sessions and Italian Day - a few examples of the exciting events planned. SKiPPS will also welcome 2024 Foundation students for their orientation sessions.

SKiPPS annual Footy Day  was a huge success and many thanks to our hard working parents for organising the breakfast, and pre match/school entertainment. Also to the captivating musical performances at assembly- such talented  budding musicians amongst our students. The parade is a great tradition at SKiPPS and an opportunity for the school community to share in the fun and excitement of football finals.  While some teams were represented with only one supporter it was great to witness the students encouraging them - even Matt Cook our Assistant Principal who proudly paraded with the wooden spoon awarded to his beloved West Coast Eagles.  I had the opportunity to teach the Year 5/6 students and  ran an AFL/ Soccer quiz and can proudly report their knowledge was indeed impressive.

Spelling Home Learning

To further support the schools Smart Spelling Program your child will now bring home their weekly spelling words at the start of each week. All students have been assigned a take home spelling book which will include their weekly spelling words and two

BOB ( back of book ) words that have been identified by their teacher as frequently incorrectly spelt words from their writing.  Students are encouraged to practice their words at home prior to their weekly spelling test on Fridays. Can you please ensure they bring their spelling books back to school each Friday, ready for the following week.

Until next week,

Michelle Bové
