Operation Christmas Child

Thank you to all of those families that have contributed to our first Operation Christmas Child.  The boxes are coming in and we are setting up to get ready to send them all off.

Once again, thank you for your generosity and support.

Vinnies Christmas Hampers

Early next term, we will again be sending out information about our Christmas appeal to help the St Vincent de Paul Society.

We work with the Riverstone Chapter of St Vincent de Paul to help those in our local community who are experiencing hardship to feel the love of the community at Christmas.

Liturgy

In the last three weeks, students and teachers had the opportunity to engage and share their learning in Religious Education through the celebration of Father’s Day Liturgy and Stage Liturgies.

Father’s Day

On Thursday 31st August, St Luke’s community celebrated a very special Liturgy in honour of our fathers. We started the morning with a sausage sizzle in which our fathers and father figures shared a few moments with their children. After that, our students together with their families had the opportunity to reflect and celebrate the gift of having a father or father-like figure in their lives. Furthermore, students had the opportunity to reflect on Saint Joseph as a father figure for Jesus. Deacon Tony reminded us in his homily how our fathers help us grow and develop through his example, and undoubtedly he told us some dad jokes. Finally, he gave our St Luke’s fathers a very special blessing to strengthen them in their role and give them the courage to educate their children with love.

Stage Liturgies

In week 7, our Kindergarten students and teachers engage in our first stage liturgy for the term. In this Liturgy, students explored their hopes and dreams for the future. They also celebrated the importance of the school’s Patron Saint, Saint Luke.

Shortly after on Thursday of Week 7, Stage 2 celebrated their learning by reflecting on the importance of showing mercy to our neighbour. Students reflected on how they can apply the Corporal Works of Mercy to their daily lives.

This week Stage 1 reflected on the importance of loving our neighbours. Students engaged in the parable of the Good Samaritan and shared ways they can serve and love their neighbour.

Finally, Stage 3 celebrated their learning in Religious Education by reflecting on the ways they can find hope and joy in their lives. Students engaged with the passage of Jesus' way to Emmaus. Students were able to share how they have learnt to look at Scripture through different perspectives to find out more about their faith.
