Year 11 Exam Block 

 The Year 11 Exam block schedule be released this week for Tuesday of Week 5 to Friday of Week 5.

 Year 11 students will be granted study leave during this time (to study at home and only come to campus for scheduled assessments).  All Year 11 students are expected to attend school on Monday 19 May. Any Year 11 student not up to date with all required assessment items will not be granted study leave and must remain at school. This includes meeting checkpoints for modules in Certificate and Diploma courses.  

Term 2 Assessment Schedules

Assessment Schedules will be released to students and parents/carers this week. Boys will be able to locate the schedule on the Orbit app. For this term, it is still also available via the Parent Portal – however, this will only be available via the Orbit app in future. Your son is encouraged to download this schedule and transfer assessment dates to his College Diary Term Planner (pages 68-71) and any home planners, to ensure he is managing his time effectively. 

 For students in Years 7-10, please remember that assessments during Exam Block, will be scheduled at some point across that week.  The exact timing of these exams will be released in the Exam Block Schedule (approx. Week 6), however, please know that it will fall between Friday 13 June and Thursday 19 June. If boys are absent during the Exam Block and consequently miss an examination, they will be required to submit a medical certificate in alignment with our College Assessment Policy. They will complete the assessment once they return to the College.

Students are encouraged to create a study and homework schedule each week, so this time is managed effectively. 

Progressive Assessment Feedback

Progressive assessment and feedback from Term 1 was released to parents last week via the Parent Orbit app.  Instructions on how to do this can be found below. This is an important juncture to see how our boys are progressing – allowing them to reevaluate their goals and see how they are progressing during Semester 1. As always, please reach out to your son’s classroom teacher if you have any major concerns. It is also important to celebrate times where our young men are reaching and exceeding their personal bests!

Guests will have the opportunity to visit a book stall where you can browse and purchase new books, students and their guest to read together, exciting raffle prizes, and light refreshments for all to enjoy.

Donate a Book for a Child in PNG

In the lead-up to the Reading Night event, we are asking all Marist parents to donate a book which is suitable for a child in Years 5-8. These books can be brought to the Secondary Library. These books should be in good condition and will be sent to children in Papua New Guinea through our Mission team.

Year 12 Study Session 

Year 12 study will continue this week – Wednesday 5:00pm – 8:00pm, in the Library for their own private and collaborative study. This is a privilege for Year 12 students in preparation for their senior assessment and a recommended study habit. In the past, students have used this time to work on their external exam study nights, prepare their drafts, or even create small study groups. Students will need to sign in and out. They can arrive and leave at any time between 5:00pm – 8:00pm; but they are not able to keep coming and leaving during the night. 

Beyond Marist College Futures and Employment Expo

As part of Futures Week next term, the College will host its annual Futures Expo. This year will feature an employment section where exhibitors will show a “We Are Hiring” sign which allows to discuss and discover employment opportunities.

Marist Subject Support

There are subject-specific Old Boy and Classroom teachers roving in the Senior Library to help Year 7 – 12 students with their homework, assignment work and general study. Please see below for the targeted times and subjects. 

Old Boys Tutoring List  

Please find here a list of Old Boys who are available to tutor your son outside of school hours. This list can also be located on the parent portal or via this link.  Please note it is the parent’s responsibility to organise and liaise tutoring times with the Old Boys.
