Deputy Head of College News
Mr Charles Brauer
Just like that 90s classic family game show, Family Feud, we want to know what you have to say! We may struggle to find someone with the charisma and set of hair like TV host Rob Brough, however, we will be sure to have some prizes on offer to incentivise your participation.
Hang in there….. I only have a few more point to share!
The College continues to work through our Cyclic Inquiry alongside other Marist Schools Australia (MSA) schools. Our inquiry now shifts towards focusing on mechanisms for learning and teaching improvement. As such, we will be inviting all families, students and staff to participate in a Diagnostic Inventory of School Alignment (DISA) survey.
Further information will be issued directly to parents, including how to sign-up for the survey…..AND WIN!
This time around, respondents will enter the draw for one of ten $50 tuckshop vouchers. We're hitting the road too, with free Grandstand Canteen lunches up for grabs for those who respond on the spot at designated home games this Rugby and Football season.
If there is a Rob Brough look-a-like out there who is willing to assist with we’d love to hear from you!
At this time of the year, coughs and colds become a reality for each us to respond and care for, both individually and communally. We've become accustomed to adopting preventative and responsive measure to look after ourselves and each other when we encountered increased incidence of illness, particulate flus and respiratory infections.
The College has received advice form Queensland Health regarding Acute Respiratory Infections (ARI). Viruses that cause ARIs, including influenza (flu), COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), can cause significant disruption to schools and the wider community. While the viruses are different, the strategies to prevent them are largely the same. ARIs can cause serious illness and complications in young children.
Here are some timely reminders from the Queensland Government regarding the preventative actions we all can take with looking after ourselves and each other:
practice good respiratory hygiene by:
clean frequently touched surfaces such as door handles, tapware, tabletops, remote controls, mobile devices (e.g. phones, laptops etc.), benchtops and fridge doors and clean your hands after cleaning.
Free influenza vaccination is available for all Queenslanders 6 months of age and
older. The free flu vaccine is available from GPs, pharmacies, and other vaccination service providers. The flu vaccine can be given at the same time as other vaccines (e.g. COVID-19). Find out Where to get vaccinated | Vaccination Matters (initiatives.qld.gov.au).
Free COVID-19 vaccination is recommended for all people aged 18 years or older, and for children aged 6 months to less than 18 years with medical conditions that may increase their risk of severe illness or death from COVID-19. The COVID-19 booster eligibility checker can be used to check eligibility.
We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to all the volunteers who generously gave their time and support during the previous term. Your contributions were greatly appreciated and made a significant difference.
As we are in Term 2, we find ourselves in need of help and support, in Tuckshop.
We are kindly asking for any parents, caregivers, or community members who are able to volunteer their time to consider assisting us. Your help is invaluable and essential to the continued smooth running of this service.
If you are available to lend a hand, please don’t hesitate to sign up in our Term 2 link below. We truly appreciate your support.
