Principal's Message

Ms Louise Reynolds

Welcome back to term 2

We are 2 weeks into the term and things already seem busy!

Our term started with our ANZAC service and thank you to Ms Alice O'Connor for representing the Cumberland RSL branch and supporting our service. We also acknowledged Mohammad Rohaan, a student in Year 2 who was awarded the Frank Ashton BEM Memorial trophy. Congratulations to Mohammad!

This term classes got stuck into learning right from day 1. Each stage has a unit of work that they are focusing on for their literacy and numeracy to build foundation skills as well as to stretch and challenge all of our learners. We also have lots of opportunities offered  across other key learning areas (such as music, geography, science and sport). For all of our Learning Overviews, go to our school website: https://granvillee-p.schools.nsw.gov.au/

From the eyes of a parent...

At the very end of last term, I hosted a parent Learning Walk... 9 parents and 2 staff members gathered together to walk through our school with fresh eyes.

Learning Walks are a way to build partnerships for learning by looking inside a range of classrooms and reflecting on what we saw, felt and wondered. We walked through 5 classrooms, as well as the staffroom, office and my office too!

Thank you to the parents for making time to look at the "inside" of our school! Here's a snapshot of what they noticed:

Mothers' Day Stall

This Thursday, May 8, our hard-working P&C will be running a Mothers' Day stall. All classes will get to go to the stall, with their teacher. Gifts range from $1 - $20. Please bring cash.

(And a Happy Mothers' Day for Sunday to those celebrating!)

Introducing Mrs McNamara

I am delighted to introduce the relieving principal for GEPS - Mrs Cheryl McNamara, who has been the Deputy Principal of Auburn West PS for the past 5 years.

Cheryl brings great experience as relieving principal and knowledge of our school and community, having been involved with us in Story Heroes, leadership collaborations and work with SVA and The Connection.

Cheryl's strengths lie in student wellbeing and supports, as well as a relational approach to supporting staff and building connections across community. She has worked in a complex school and shown a calm, warm and honest approach to student-centred leadership.

I am excited for her and feel confident that her leadership will support the great work and great people of GEPS. She visited our school yesterday and met lots of students, staff and families. Her first day will be tomorrow, Wednesday 7 May. I'm sure she will be warmly welcomed in the GEPS way!

Thank you and see you soon

I want to thank the whole GEPS community for your support as I step out to Croydon Public School for a little while. I will miss the close connections we have here and the warm family vibe we have created. I know that I will make new connections in time and that you will all continue growing and nurturing learning her at GEPS.

Until term 4 - goodbye!
