Blue Origin Space Flight

On the 14th of April the first all-female space flight since Valentina Tereshkova’s solo mission in 1963 took flight. The Blue Origin’s New Shepard made a 10 minute voyage over 100km from the Earth’s surface.

Among the six women, the self-dubbed 'The Taking-up Space Crew', was Amanda Nguyen, a bioastronautics researcher, Nobel Peace Prize laureate and civil rights activist. As well as being the first Vietnamese woman in space, she helped write the monumental Sexual Assault Survivors' Rights Act. The other women on board the flight were aerospace engineer Aisha Bowe, film producer Kerianne Flynn, singer Katy Perry, and journalists Gayle King and Lauren Sánchez.
