Gospel Reflection

4th Sunday of Easter

Summary

In this passage, Jesus says that His followers are like sheep who listen to His voice. He knows them, and they follow Him. Jesus promises that He gives them eternal life and they will never be taken away from Him. He explains that no one can take them out of His or the Father's hands because He and the Father are one.

Reflection

Have you ever had someone you trust—like a parent, teacher, or coach—call out to you and you knew their voice straight away? That’s what Jesus is talking about here. He is like a good shepherd who calls to us, and when we learn to listen, we’ll know His voice too. It means trusting that He is always with us, guiding us, and protecting us—even when life feels a little scary or confusing.  Jesus is saying, "You are mine, and nothing can take you away from Me." That’s a pretty big promise! It means we are safe in His love, always.

  • What do you think it means to “hear Jesus’ voice”? How can we hear Him today?
  • Jesus says, “I know them, and they follow me.” How does it feel to know that Jesus knows you completely and still loves you?
  • Jesus promises that no one can take us out of His hand. What does that tell you about how strong and safe His love is?
  • Have you ever felt like Jesus was guiding you, like a shepherd leads sheep? What happened?
  • What are some ways you can follow Jesus in your everyday life—at school, at home, or with friends?

Gospel Reading: John 10:27-30

Jesus said:

‘The sheep that belong to me listen to my voice;

I know them and they follow me.

I give them eternal life;

they will never be lost

and no one will ever steal them from me.

The Father who gave them to me is greater than anyone,

and no one can steal from the Father.

The Father and I are one.’

 Prayer

Jesus, Thank You for being my Good Shepherd. Help me to listen to Your voice and follow You with trust. Thank You for holding me in Your hands and never letting me go. Help me to feel safe in Your love and to share that love with others.

Amen.
