Term 2 - Week 2

Principal’s Report

Winter Uniform

Students will have transitioned into winter uniform by the end of next week. New and second-hand uniforms are available from the clothing store for those families who need to purchase them. I thank the parents for their support in ensuring all students are wearing the correct school uniform and not wearing jewellery and/or items of clothing that are not part of the school uniform.

School Cross Country

Congratulations to all our students for the wonderful participation in the School Cross Country last Friday.  On Monday I was able to announce that the House winner of this event was Paderborn.  Well done Paderborn! An excellent effort from everyone!

Grade 4 Camp – Pioneer Settlement

On Monday and Tuesday our Grade 4 students went to the Pioneer Settlement for an overnight camp.  The students were amazing, and we continued to get feedback from other visitors to the Pioneer Settlement about how polite and respectful they were. Well done Grade 4.  Special thanks to Gemma Flanagan, Rachael Caldwell, Daisy Antonowicz, Miggy Podosky and Darcey Lloyd for their support of the students.

Catholic Education Week

Catholic schools offer different pathways for students, from early education to senior education. We focus on nurturing, safe, and inclusive environments.

Our diocesan academic program, Magnify Sandhurst, brings together world class partners in education to ensure that all students are able to maximise their learning potential.

With the recent Household, Income and Labour Dynamics in Australia (HILDA) Survey showing that students who attended a Catholic school are more likely to be happier, contribute to community and be employed, there has never been a better time to be in Catholic education!

Sandhurst Switches Off

St Kilian’s joined other catholic schools across the Sandhurst Diocese to switch off on Wednesday as a symbol of our commitment to caring for creation.

Some classrooms committed for part of the day or the whole day, every light turned off and every screen powered down makes a difference.  Even our newsletter was delayed! 😂

This action is symbolic of our commitment to the preservation of God’s fragile creation. It is also symbolic of our solidarity with those who are suffering due to climate change.

Let us reimagine our partnership with all of creation. We remember the words of Pope Francis: “If we approach nature and the environment without this openness to awe and wonder, if we no longer speak the language of fraternity and beauty in our relationship with the world, our attitude will be that of masters, consumers, ruthless exploiters, unable to set limits on their immediate needs.” (Laudate Si, Pope Francis, p. 17).

Mother’s Day

For Mother's Day this year, we will celebrate our mothers and special friends on Friday 9th May.

All mothers and special friends of the school are invited to join us for a coffee and croissant; toast and fruit will be available for our students.

Mother’s Day Gifts

Students will have the opportunity to purchase a gift for their mothers or special friends on Friday 9th May. Our Parents and Friends committee have organised a range of gifts for all students to purchase.  Students are asked to bring $5 to purchase a gift.
