From The Principal's Desk

Dear Parents and Carers,

Term 2 has kicked into gear with a number of significant events already occurring and many more coming up. On Thursday 24th April Cross Country we managed to get through the day without any rain and over 600 students competing.

The results was close affair:

1st - Blue Cook Kiwarr House with 214pts

2nd - Green Moneghetti Dungalaba House with 204pts

Equal 3rd - Yellow Maher Kanyul and Red Blackburn Kadak on 168pts

Congratulations to all students who participated in the House Cross Country and ensured they gained a point for their team. It was terrific to see so many parents come to support their children and cheer on the children.  Congratulations to Mrs O’Brien for organising this event and allowing it to run smoothly. Those students who finished in the top 4 from 10 Years old and upward will be considered to go on to represent the school in the Ballarat and District Cross Country.

On Wednesday last week our School Captains met with Mrs Juliana Addision (Member for Wendouree) and led Juliana around the school, visiting various classrooms. Once Juliana had finished her tour of the school with the captains, I spent some time with Juliana discussing possible ideas for the future on how our school could deal with the growth of students in Delacombe.

On Friday last week our two Junior School Council leaders, Alice J and Bella O went along to the ANZAC Day ceremony with Mrs Svilicic to lay the wreath and represent the school in this special service.

Ms Jessica Eddy
Ms Jessica Eddy

We also have Jessica Eddy who has joined us for 4 days a week in the

Student Wellbeing officer role.  Jessica has spent the last 4.5 years

working with CAFS supporting families in the Ballarat area. Jessica worked in Pinarc for 12 years prior to that and previous to this role worked in a school. We are extremely pleased to add Jessica to our student support area. In terms of Student Wellbeing officers, we have Mr Josh Lee (5 days), Ms Jessica Eddy (Mon-Thursday) and Ms Laura Wallis (Fridays). They are all located in the Wellbeing space. If you feel your child requires support, please contact a member of the Wellbeing team to arrange the support needed.

We also have Teaghan Moss and Nic Salter joining the school as part of our Educational Support team.

Delacombe PS School Fete 2025

Last week our Fete committee met to discuss the Fete from term 1 and also review the overall e.  The Fete generated over $17,100 for the school and these funds will be very useful in providing a terrific new playground in the Grade 5-6 area for the start of 2026.  Thank you to all the parents and families who supported the fete and to the businesses who donated goods for this occasion.
