Biochemical Pathways

The first Unit 3 Biology class attended KIOSC on Monday where they studied photosynthesis and cellular respiration in alginate balls.  Alginate balls are small balls of photosynthetic algae that undergo both photosynthesis (in the light) and cellular respiration (in both the light and dark).  Students used the production or usage of carbon dioxide as an indicator whether there was more photosynthesis or more cellular respiration occurring.

Students will use this background knowledge to design, undertake and report on an investigation as part of their studies for Unit 4.
