Design & Technologies Week

Mon 19 - Fri 23 May

During week 5, Art and Technology will be participating in Design and Technologies week, celebrating this dynamic, challenging and essential learning area, where students learn to be the creative problem solvers of the future!

Over the course of the week, students can participate in a number of activities that will be run at lunchtime each day, facilitated by different subject areas. We look forward to celebrating this amazing learning area and can't wait to see students engaging in the wonderful activities on offer. Check out the following slide to see what activities are running each day. We look forward to seeing you there.

Measuring Up in Product Design!

Ms Rumble's Year 7 Product Design class has been busy putting their measuring and marking skills to the test! Each student designed their own mini keyring, starting with a paper template before transferring it onto plywood – precision and creativity in action! Teamwork was also on the tools, as students collaborated to create colourful safety posters, reminding everyone how to stay safe in the workshop. Great work, designers in the making!

VCE Media

Year 12s

It’s been a big few weeks for students as they have recently wrapped out Outcome 1, which was focused around the 2019 South Korean film, Parasite, as part of the ‘Narrative and their contexts’ outcome. Students' focus has now shifted to the development of their SAT folios, with the completion of their most recent production experiments, exploring techniques, equipment and specialised skills required in the production of their selected media form and product.

Students are about to begin pre-production, the largest component of their folio, before they begin production at the start of Unit 4 later this term. It’s been fantastic to see such development of student’s ideas in their planned media form and I can’t wait to see the end products later this year. Check out some of the folio pages from students most recent production experiments.

Year 11s

Students have recently begun Australian stories as part of Outcome 3. This Outcome is exploring the fictional and non-fictional stories that reflect our local, national and global cultural history, including a focus on the voices and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander creators and producers. Recently we have explored Australian culture, history and identity through song, analysing lyrics and visuals, with the class unpacking the iconic Australian rock song, Beds are Burning by Midnight Oil. This led students to investigate an Australian song of their own choice, exploring the connection to Australia. Outside of class students are mid-way through developing a ‘mini folio’ for Outcome 2, which will culminate in them producing two media products that focus on the exploration of a representation. Students are selecting to work across a range of media forms, from short narrative films, print, photography and more!
