🚶‍♂️ Walk Safely to School Day – Friday 16th May

🚶‍♀️Let’s walk together for a healthier, safer future!

Now in its 25th year, Walk Safely to School Day is a national event where primary school aged children across Australia are encouraged to walk with their parent or caregiver to school. The event promotes the importance of regular physical activity, healthy habits, and road safety education—not just on May 16th, but every day!

Once again, CPS is proud to participate in this fantastic initiative. We encourage all students to walk all or part of the way to school, and to join us for some fun activities between 8:00am and 8.55am. Students are welcome to bring their own breakfast (e.g., fruit) and enjoy it with friends on the green area upon arrival. Staff will be there from 8:00am to welcome students into the school grounds.

👟 Class Challenge: Every student who walks all or part of the way to school will earn a point for their class tally. The class with the most participation will be announced as the winners and will receive a special reward!

🎨 Student Competitions:

  • Prep to Year 2: Colouring Competition
  • Years 3 to 6: Poster/Slogan Competition

A winner will be chosen from Prep, Year 1/2, Year 3/4 and Year 5/6. Winners will receive a certificate & small prize and will be announced at assembly.

Walk Safely to School Day is a great opportunity to consider our daily transport habits. Even if walking the full way isn’t possible, you might:

  • Take the tram and hop off one stop early
  • Drive part-way and walk the final few blocks

Let’s make this a fun and healthy community event and start the day the best way—together!

With thanks,
