Year 6 Leadership - Mother's Day Reflections

Our Year 6 Leaders have written some reflections on their leadership role for Mother's Day.

Enjoy!

Hugo: A moment I felt proud of myself was when I was handing out flowers at the front gate with my friends. I noticed that younger students/families appreciated me giving flowers to the mums, grandmas or special friends. Being a Year 6 leader at this event made me feel happy and proud to be able to be a leader for such an amazing mothers day.

Jack: I noticed that younger students / families appreciated the flowers being handed out when they entered St Joseph’s. I demonstrated responsibility by setting up the food and tables. I contributed to Mother's Day by handing out food and drinks and beautiful flowers to the mums.

Maya: I helped create a welcoming environment for mothers and special guests by giving all the mums a flower to greet them inside and setting up the tables the night before the special event . I also arrived at school early to unravel and put the flowers into a bucket to hand them out to the mums, and did the final touches before the guests got to our beautiful school. Overall the mothers day breakfast and assembly went amazing. We believe all the mothers had a great time and enjoyed the food, free samples and assembly.

Charlotte: I helped create a welcoming environment for mothers day by handing out flowers as the mothers and special carers entered the school. Being a school leader at this event made me feel excited and responsible because my friends and I got to be in charge of this awesome event. I showed initiative when I handed out the food, drinks, flowers and skincare to the Mums and grandmas. I noticed that the younger students and families were really grateful for  the kindness of all the children and teachers. I learned from this event to treat special people kindly because they really appreciate it.

Allegra: At the mothers day breakfast I helped set a good example of how good our school is by handing out flowers, food and helping people with jobs. I loved seeing the mothers' faces light up when we would hand them beautiful roses. The amazing event was 100% a success and the assembly was really fun. Being a Year 6 leader at the breakfast meant I got to help hand out a lot of things, and make sure the morning ran smoothly. I noticed that younger students/families appreciated the yummy food.

Domenica: At the Mother's Day breakfast all the mums started swarming in and it was very overwhelming, but I was on a roll. I helped hand out flowers and served delicious food. How do I know the food was good? I may have tried a little bit, but there was still enough for the  mums. The mums were so nice, they were like angels. I believe you should treat special people with  kindness and care.

Zoe M: Being a Year Six leader at the Mother's Day breakfast made me feel excited, responsible, grateful that I was in Year Six and that I got to help with the breakfast. I contributed to the success of the breakfast by helping hand out food and helping it run smoothly. A leadership strength I believe that I demonstrated during the event was courage when I went up to the mothers and grandmas to give them all food and skincare. We helped hand out scones, croissants, granola cups, fruit and much more things the mums and grandmas were very grateful for. After the breakfast there was an assembly by the Year Ones that was extremely cute. The breakfast was awesome and so many people were so

appreciative.

Morgan: At Mother's Day breakfast we handed out delicious treats such as fruit, yoghurt cups, bagels, sandwichs and scones made by the Grade 3 parents. Each mother or special person was given a rose handed out by the Grade 6 leaders as a part of their leadership.
