Highlights

Don't forget to check out all the pages in this week's newsletter - there are loads of pictures celebrating our amazing students, including our Student Leaders for 2024 and our new way of sharing and celebrating our Believe...Achieve awards (formerly Student of the Week).

Ellie Walker also shares a wonderful recount of the GRIP Student Leadership Conference.

We are still seeking families to host an Indonesian student during their stay in October.

This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for your child to make a genuine connection with a peer who lives in another country and has a different cultural heritage that they can share and learn from. I remember speaking with a number of Australian business start-ups in Shanghai on a visit about 8 years ago and every business we spoke with had been exposed to global citizenship through school experiences such as homestays and student exchanges. It didn't matter which country their school had connected with, it was the act of connecting with someone from a different country that inspired them to expand their horizons.

Parent Information Night

Don't forget to come to the Parent Information Night on Monday, Feb 19. These sessions are VERY different from past ones and aim to give you much greater insights and understanding about how students learn to read at each year level and how the school and home can work together to achieve growth and success.

We hope that all families are able to attend to learn more about the changes and practices that have been taking hold at RNPS over the last 5 years.

New RNPS Values 2024 and Beyond

Towards the end of last year, the students, teachers, and families of our school community were given the opportunity to complete a small survey that aimed to determine the specific emotions they would like to experience each day (or as often as possible) when walking through the door of RNPS. These emotions will be replacing our current values: To Be Respectful, To Be Neighbourly, To Be Positive and To Be Successful.

The survey results gave us a clear indication of the emotions we collectively appreciate as a community, and we are pleased to introduce our school’s new values for 2024 and beyond!

At Ringwood North Primary School, I am

  • Motivated
  • Grateful
  • Inspirational
  • Safe

The behaviours we, the RNPS Community, are working towards to demonstrate each value includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Motivated

  • being in class on time
  • being ready to learn
  • having a positive mindset
  • being organised
  • Setting personal goals and achieving success in our learning

Grateful

  • appreciating what we’ve got
  • having student voice
  • listening to others
  • using manners at all times
  • respecting people, belongings, equipment

Inspirational

  • creating a positive environment
  • using constructive feedback
  • finding inspiration in others
  • helping others
  • being a positive role model

Safe

You will begin to see our new values displayed around the school yard and inside our classrooms. Teachers are using these values to build strong and positive class routines and expectations. We will also be working closely with our families to extend the use of our new values in all areas of the school community.

Annual privacy reminder for our school community

Our school collects and uses student and parent personal information for standard school functions or where permitted by law, as stated in the Schools’ Privacy Policy and the Schools’ Privacy Collection Notice.

Our Photographing, Filming and Recording Students Policy, describes how we collect and use photographs, video and recordings of students. The policy also explains when parent consent is required and how it can be provided and withdrawn. We ask parents to also review the guidance we provide on how we use Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for Education safely at the school and what parents can do to further protect their child’s information. If after reviewing the guidance, you have any questions or concerns regarding your child using Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace for Education, please contact the school. For more information about privacy, refer to:

Schools’ Privacy Policy — information for parents. This information is also available in ten community languages.
