Principal’s Message

Mrs Claire Ryan

Dear Parents and Carers,

Welcome to Week 3's Newsletter. The children are settling into school routines and are focused on their classroom learning.

This Wednesday, 14th February, is Ash Wednesday, marking the beginning of Lent. We will be going to Church for Mass at 12:30pm. During this Mass, we will also induct our 2024 school leaders. SRC students will not receive badges during this Mass as they have yet to be selected. We will host an induction for these successful candidates later this term at an assembly. We hope to see family and friends at this Mass on Wednesday. Further details can be seen in the RE News section.

Last week, we held our Annual Swimming Carnival and what a well-organised event it was. The atmosphere was electric, and there was a great show of sportsmanship as the students cheered on their peers, whether competing in the 33m swim, the 15m swim or the novelty events.

I wish to take this opportunity to formally thank Mrs Katie Goddard for her behind-the-scenes work in getting the students into their correct events, preparation of the program, and organisation of parent helpers and the award ribbons. The smooth running of such events only happens with such staff members' hard work and dedication. Thank you, Katie! Thanks to the rest of our staff at Sacred Heart, who arrived early to set up at the pool and provided the necessary support for all children to ensure they were safe and felt a sense of achievement. Thank you!

Thank you to the students who participated and cheered loudly for their peers. There was a genuine feeling of team spirit in the atmosphere at the Boggabri Pool. I feel privileged to be a part of the Sacred Heart community. Congratulations to all of our swimming champions. You should be proud of your achievements. Congratulations to Cox House, who scraped through as the winners by just 2 points!

Thank you to all the parents and family members who attended the carnival, helped with events, cheered the children on or even swam in the final race. We appreciate your continued love and support.

Lastly, a huge thank you to the P&F, who organised the fantastic fruit platters shared with everyone.

Good luck to all our swimmers who will compete at the Diocesan Swimming Carnival in Week 5 at Gunnedah.

Last week, we spoke to the children about our school presenting a Musical to our Boggabri community this year. We will perform the all-time classic - "The Wizard of Oz". Students will have the opportunity to audition for lead roles, and there will be many opportunities for all students, parents, and staff to be involved with the planning and production of this event. We are only in the initial stages of discussions with Sandy Bourke from the Conservatorium of Music, who will work with us to bring this musical alive. Stay tuned for further details. W

Have a wonderful week, and please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any further concerns.

Warm regards,

Claire Ryan
