Garden Update:

Things are on the move!  If you look carefully around our Kitchen Garden and surrounding garden beds, you will notice that the vegetables have started to grow.  So far the cauliflower, parsley and herbs are growing really well.  Ensure you take some time to see the labours of the students' hard work, as the birds also like to appreciate it!

Additionally this week, the gardening club has laid soil around the school, in preparation for the Preps to plant some flowers this Thursday.  Thank you to everyone who has volunteered to assist in beautifying the school.  We look forward to seeing these flowers flourish.  If you are available, and would like to join in the planting mission on Thursday, please let your class teacher or Brooke Danaher know and be at school by 2:00pm.

Walk or Wheel:

Thank you to all students who have participated to date.  Well done to 3H who was awarded the Golden Shoe for the most Walk or Wheel participants.

Give it your best to get into the top three over the next fortnight. Remember if you live a little too far away to walk or wheel, you can park a few blocks back and walk the remainder.  Good luck

Bird Box-Great News!

A replacement parrot nesting box was installed in the gum tree outside the office last Friday and within hours we had two pairs of rainbow lorikeets checking it out!  One of the pairs (perhaps the old tenants) had an inspection of the interior as well.  Seems Lorikeet real estate is just as competitive as our housing market!  With this level of interest in the nesting box we expect to have permanent residents soon.

Farmer’s Pick Delivery

Starting next term, Solway will be trialling Farmer’s Pick. This program is a fruit and vegetable box delivery service that will be delivered to Solway on Tuesday afternoons. This is not your regular fruit and vegetable box, it uses ‘wonky’ fruit and vegetables and stops good food being sent to landfill.  Please look out for more information about signing up in the next school newsletter.
