Unit 1 Theatre Studies

Families and friends of students in Unit 1 Theatre Studies are invited to the Performance & Presentation Evenings on Mon 27 & Tue 28 May at the Wantirna College ECA Centre, L1 & L2. The evening will begin with a walk-through gallery of student costume and set design work. This will be followed by performances from the class of a variety of scenes from Shakespeare plays. Numbers are limited. Please buy your $5 ticket HERE through Trybooking.

Music Camp

We're excited to invite all our Instrumental Music Students from Years 7-12, to the 2024 Music Camp!  All Ensembles and Choirs will attend one camp together, at 'CYC Forest Edge', Neerim East.

Music Camp provides an opportunity for all students within our ensembles to participate in intense rehearsals, workshops, team building exercises and performances where they will further develop their skills in musicianship, teamwork, and leadership. Though running costs for camps have significantly increased, Music Camp remains a highly subsidised event to ensure that all students can participate.

Please note that  full payment is due by Thu 23 May as we need to confirm numbers and dietary requirements with the venue.  Please consent and arrange payment through Compass - payment plan available.

If you are planning to pay in full closer to the due date, please consent to the event asap to assist us with our planning.

A packing list is included on the resource page of the event.

Instrument Donation

Thank you to the Garnaut family for donating a new Ukelele to the program. We are grateful for donations of student grade instruments in good condition.

NEVR Concert Rehearsal

On Wed 29 May, some of our students will be participating in the annual North East Victoria Region (NEVR) Concert at Hamer Hall.  This year's title is 'Sonic Canvas' and yesterday the NEVR Symphonic band (made up of students from over ten different schools) had their first combined rehearsal and sectionals at Wantirna College. Wantirna College students also attended rehearsals at other schools for different ensembles.  Next rehearsal is Fri 24 May!

Trivia Night - Final Results

What a night! The 2024 Trivia Night was jam packed with fun games, silent auction, lucky dip, raffles, prizes galore and of course, Trivia!

The formalities began with a warm up game at the start of the night called The Force, where one participant from every table had to blow up a balloon and, using only The Force (their breath) get it to land on a chair opposite them. Congratulations to Mr Kos who won the game and recived a Star Wars cupcake (donated by Norma Rose Cakes) for each person on his table!

Highlights included the Live Auction, hilariously run by Daniel Cripps of Barry Plant Wantirna (one of our Major Sponsors), the incredible array of prizes on offer in the Silent Auction (over 65 items!) the enormous Major Raffle prize (a literal wagon full of prizes worth $681), and the free door prize to win a Gingerbread house (donated by the Dollery family)!

At the end of the event, there was some confusion about the winning team after scores couldn't be double checked due to running overtime. Therefore a recount was declared.  All answer sheets were re-marked, double-checked and entered into a spreadsheet before the final results were presented to the POPA Committee and finally announced.

The recount has been brought to you by by Seriously Addictive Maths tutoring Boronia (another of our Major Sponsors!) and we are delighted to reveal that we had a TIE for first place with Table 13 and Table 4 each scoring a total of 113 points! Congratulations to both these teams, who will receive their winning prizes in coming days.

Moving forward, it has been decided that scores will be marked by Official Scorers and recorded electronically. We would once again like to thank all the businesses and individuals who donated prizes towards our event, as well as everyone who participated!
