Principal's Report

CELEBRATING MOTHER’S DAY

It was really nice last week to see a range of things happening at both campuses to celebrate Mother’s Day.  In the current environment, everything we can do to help students grow up to be thoughtful, kind and appreciative is critical and celebrating our mums around Mother’s Day is a perfect opportunity to do just that.

For many years we have run the Mother’s Day Stall and had the kids doing bits and pieces in class to make something special for mums.  And at Scotsburn it has been traditional to get the mums together for a morning tea or breakfast.  But holding a Mother’s Day Breakfast for the Buninyong campus mums was a first and was very successful.  We had 48 mums, some dads and 66 students gather in the Bowling Club and everyone thoroughly enjoyed a delicious and relaxing breakfast.

Our Master Chef students did a brilliant job serving food and clearing up, giving them an opportunity to experience a different side to their weekly Master Chef sessions.

Thanks to Mrs Sullivan for organising the Buninyong campus breakfast and to Tracey Coats for preparing all of the food.  It was a nice touch to have a colourful ‘selfie board’, which was perfect for mum’s to use as a background for a photo with their kids….thanks to Mrs Morgan and Mrs Noyce for that.

Given the success of the event, it’s likely this will become an annual event, so keep your eye out for an invite in May of 2025.  And watch this space in terms of Father’s Day later in the year.

GRADE 3-4 ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND UPGRADE

You might remember that quite some time ago we were successful in winning a grant to have the 3-4 Adventure Playground at the Buninyong Campus upgraded.  Whilst this piece of equipment has provided loads of fun for many students over 25+ years, it is now very tired and due for replacement.

We have been working with the VSBA (Victorian School Building Authority) to deliver this project and now have a clear timeline.  Later this week a team of contractors will be in to set up a fully fenced work space and then on Monday they will return to remove the existing equipment.  Then on June 18 and 19 the new equipment will be installed.  That will be followed by some landscaping before a final inspection and clearance for the equipment to be used.

The attached image will give you a sense of the finished product.  As you can see, the new playground will be very different to anything else we have in the school.
