What's happening in Religious Education and our Parish life.

Year Six Confirmation Candidates

It’s an exciting and busy time in our  school and parish as our Year Six students embark on a significant milestone in their faith journey – preparing for their Confirmation. The energy and enthusiasm are palpable as these young individuals take this important step in deepening their relationship with God.

A Journey of Faith and Learning

Preparation for Confirmation is a comprehensive process that involves both spiritual growth and academic learning. Our students have been diligently attending formation sessions at the parish with Sister Julie and supported by teachers, where they engage in meaningful discussions about the teachings of the Church. They are learning about the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit, the significance of the sacraments, and the responsibilities that come with being confirmed.

Getting Prepared

Sister Julie, Mrs. Chappell and Mr. G accompanied a small group of candidates to church last week to create a short video of the logistics of this special ceremony.  We hope watching this a few times may help with the nerves on the day a little bit.

Community Involvement

An essential part of the Confirmation preparation is the involvement of the broader school and parish community. Parents, teachers, and parish members are all playing a vital role in supporting our Year Six students.  Our Social Justice leaders are busily preparing photos and prayer cards for each community classroom, encouraging every class to include prayers for every candidate and two children in particular each day.  As we continue to prepare for this joyous occasion next term, we invite everyone in our school community to keep our Year Six students in their prayers.

May they feel the guidance of the Holy Spirit and the love of our community as they take this important step in their faith journey.

Piety Shop

Did you know there is a piety shop in our church where you can buy gifts for sacraments and other lovely things? The shop is stocked up with new religious items and open after each weekend mass.

Caritas Australia’s Papua New Guinea Landslide Disaster

Following a massive landslide on the 24 May of 2024 in the Highlands of Papua New Guinea, an initial rapid assessment report from the UN has revealed extensive losses and damages to communities downhill, also destroying livelihoods and key infrastructure.

7,849 individuals from 1,427 households across two communities are affected with food security, clean and safe drinking water (as well as water tanks and purification tablets), and the provision of nonfood items such as utensils and clothes the top three priorities.

Sister John Mary, Secretary and Project Manageress of the Catholic Diocese of Wabag explained, “We have visited communities to deliver food and medicine to people who are digging their loved ones out of the earth. The shock and grief in these communities is profound, and among it all many have no home to return to, no food to eat, no clean water to drink or no clothes to wear.”
