The Big Dig - Dirt Detectives Education program Ball-and-chain shackles? Torn and filthy rags decorated with broad arrows? History books often describe horrific tales of the brutal punishment and agonising labour experienced by convicts in early colonial Sydney. Students will work as archaeologists to excavate artefacts from our indoor archaeological dig and use their investigative skills to discover what life was really like for the convicts who lived in The Rocks during the early years of the colony.

The Rocks Walking Tour—Education program

The Rocks Walking Tours Education Program is conducted by trained and qualified guides who present to students a preserved nineteenth-century historic landscape—the birthplace of our European History—within Sydney's present-day city and harbour. They specialise in the History and Heritage of the Rocks and Millers Point. Accounts of the times are expressed through events and by interpreting the built features of significant sites.

History & Heritage Tour

This perennial favourite is a comprehensive introduction to Australia's European birthplace and the historic precinct's subsequent importance to our modern society. This tour allows the student to learn about the lifestyle, social history, and heritage of Sydney.
