From the

Principal

Dear Parents / Carers,

Many families in our school operate family businesses and have expressed interest in making donations to our school. Rowville Primary School operates a School Building Fund, and this is a way that families can make a tax-deductible donation to the school.

These donations greatly benefit Rowville Primary School enabling the provision of quality education to current and future students, as well as benefiting the donor with a tax deduction.

In the past School Building Fund donations have been used for the following:

  • Painting
  • Replacing floor coverings
  • Refurbishment of toilets
  • Refurbishment of canteen

The Rowville Primary School Council has identified energy efficient heating and cooling of the school gymnasium as a future project.

Donations can be made online using the QKR app, by phoning or visiting the office

between 8.30am-4pm Monday to Friday. For further information regarding the Building Fund please visit our website https://www.rowvilleps.vic.edu.au/school-building-fund/

Last week we celebrated Education Week at Rowville Primary School. Education is a fundamental human right. All children must be able to go to school, and thereby benefit from the same opportunities to build a future. It is a right that we take for granted. However, today education remains an inaccessible right for millions of children around the world. More than seventy-two million children of primary education age are not in school, and 759 million adults are illiterate and do not have the awareness necessary to improve both their living conditions and those of their children.

During the week we stopped and reflected with gratitude the fact that our students not only have a school but that they have access to quality teaching. We used the occasion of Education Week to showcase everything that is great about our school. I acknowledge the many parents who joined us for open morning last week. I also acknowledge our wonderful Canteen staff, Cindy and Marnie who served up hot scones with jam and cream to celebrate this special occasion.

Enrolments for Foundation 2025 are now due. Any families that will have a child commencing school in 2025 are asked to complete the online enrolment form at https://students.educationapps.vic.gov.au/s/

Please note that enrolments for 2025 are due by Friday 26 July 2024.

Just as they must with any other academic skill if they are to improve, students need to learn that being part of a sports team requires the three “Ps”… practice, patience, and persistence. Whether it’s showing up to practice when you’d rather be playing with your friends, waiting your turn on the sidelines, training as a team emergency, or doing the same drill repeatedly, the three “Ps” of team sports translate into important life lessons. Last Friday students from Rowville Primary School participated in the District Cross Country event. Our students displayed outstanding sportsmanship during the day. There were also some outstanding winners.

Congratulations to the students who progressed through to the next stage and will be representing Rowville Primary School at the Division Cross Country on Wednesday 29 May: Demi 6B, Hudson 3A, James 4C, Oliver 4B, Elise 5B, Logan 4A, Hunter 4C and Billy 3B.

Kind regards,

Anne Babich
