COLLEGE
UPDATE
Term 2: Week 7
Last week, we held our annual College Open Evening, which was a brilliant display of the opportunities available to all students at St Mary's. A huge thank you goes to our students, staff, and parents who all supported this event. Together, we welcomed families, led tours, and engaged future students with interactive learning experiences, musical performances, displays and demonstrations. The catering at our Green Leaf Café was incredible and a topic of much positive conversation among attendees!
At last week's House Assembly, our Year 12 House Leaders provided students with information about the upcoming Athletics carnival, now scheduled to take place at Barlow Park. House Leaders also commenced 'War Cry' practice, which saw all students learning and reciting their specific cry, ahead of the Athletics Carnival in Week 8. We look forward to seeing the fruits of their labour!
Also held last week was our annual 'Australia's Biggest Morning Tea' fundraiser, which was a huge success! Many staff and students participated in this great event, raising funds to support Cancer research. Thank you to the wonderful team of staff and students who pulled this event together during an incredibly busy time of the term. The final amount raised is being tallied, we look forward to sharing this number next week.
This week, students will be working with their Head of Year and Pastoral Mentors in Social Emotional Learning (SEL) on Tuesday. Students are encouraged to engage in the lessons, which continue to strengthen positive emotions, relationships, and meaning in their lives.
The St Mary's Chess Team will attend a tournament on Thursday representing the College, we wish the team, the very best of luck!
The FIAT Retreat will commence next Friday under the guidance of Mrs O'Grady and our Campus Minister, Helena Tutoe. We hope this experience provides opportunities for reflection, connection with faith, and the development and strengthening of relationships.
The Family Connect Bingo night promises to be an exciting event this Friday in our Hugh O'Brien Centre. We look forward to sharing this evening with the St Mary's families that have registered.
The St Mary's community is invited to join our team at the 7 Cairns Running Festival on Sunday, 14 July. This community event offers 2km, 5km, 10km, 21.1km and 42.2km run and walk events. Join the St Mary's team at registration for 10% off your entry fee!

BUS TRAVEL SMART CARDS
Throughout this term, Kinetic has been rolling out a new ticketing solution. If you are required to pay a fare, the new ticketing system allows for online top-ups, providing a convenient way for you to keep track of balances on smart cards.
Students are required to have their cards with them whilst travelling on our services. They must ‘Tap On’ the bus every trip.
All students, even when they are not eligible for the government assistance card (STAS) will need a smart card.
