Madam Mayor from Glen Eira at CJC

We would like to thank Madam Mayor Cr Anne-Marie Cade for visiting CJC this morning and offering a presentation and Q & I with our grade 3 and 4 students.  She spoke beautifully and was very engaging with the children who asked many questions about her daily activities and democracy in general.  A great educational experience for all!

Let' hear it from the students

Students from 3/4 were very lucky to have the Mayor Anne-Maree Cade visit us this week. We have been learning all about Democracy and the 3 levels of government. Students thoroughly enjoyed listening to her share how the Council runs, how as Mayor she impacts and supports our area.

3/4 C class reflection

“The lovely mayor was wearing a bright blue cloak adorned with glorious glittering gold badges. As she walked up to the crowd, the students silenced immediately. Because the information was so interesting, we went 15 minutes overtime.”

-3D and 3E reflections

"Yesterday, the Mayor visited CJC, she told us all kinds of stuff about Government and her life as Mayor. She said how you can become a Mayor.

Step one: You have to be a Councillor before you become Mayor.

Step two: Be kind and give very nice decisions for the council and they will pick you for Mayor.

Step three: You have to be a kind and caring Mayor.

A Mayor is alot of work, sometimes they get over a thousand pages to read each week."

"When the Mayor came, I really enjoyed when she told us about rubbish. She told us how we could help our environment. I also enjoyed when we got to know the times on how early the council supports our area. My favourite part was when I heard there was going to be more parks in Glen Eira."

"It was interesting to learn about our community house, and how we can do hard rubbish collections. People can call upon the council to help them in different ways."
