STEM
This week in STEM, Preps started to discuss words to describe the properties of materials.
Grade 1/2s each explored Playdoh and a rubber band and what happens after it had been bent, twisted, squashed and stretched (i.e. does it stay in its new shape or does it change back to its original shape after letting go?).
Grade 3/4s worked in groups to discuss the best material that should be used for eight different tasks (e.g. construction of football goal posts) and had to identify the properties as to why this material would be the most appropriate.
Grade 5/6s looked at dissolving. They worked in small groups to investigate which substances – sugar, sand, salt, pepper, flour – dissolves in cold tap water and then discussed whether these changes are reversible or irreversible.
Well done to Mason Cahill and Addison Smith for receiving STEM certificates this week.

MUSIC NEWS
Hello everyone,
In Music this week, the Preps worked with rhythm patterns, and high and low sounds with playing and singing.
The 1/2s learned a song in another language, and played chimes.
The 3/4s played ukuleles and created funky lyrics.
The 5/6s also played ukuleles and created their own jazz music.
In Choir, we have just a few weeks left before we perform at the Hamilton Eisteddfod, so we are now practicing two times each week.
MUSIC AWARDS
This week’s class Music Award goes to 1/2D for great playing on chimes and singing. The individual awards go to Scarlet Hoppitt, Emmy Kemp & Remi Watt in PA for great singing and participation in Music every week.
Thank you,
