From the Acting Principal

We hope you enjoyed the midweek break that the Geelong Cup holiday gave us. Even though the weather was so unsettled it was a nice chance to pause and catch our breath before diving into what’s always an eventful time of year.
Term 4 is always a busy time, and this year is no different. We are already preparing for 2026 while also beginning our Semester 2 assessment and reporting cycle, planning the concert, graduation ceremonies, and organising other end-of-year celebrations.
Please note, we have two student-free days this term: Monday, November 3rd, and Tuesday, November 4th. Staff will be busy writing reports and completing training including first aid, CPR and epilepsy to ensure that certifications remain current.
Our new fencing is nearly complete across the whole school and it looks great. Just a subtle change in the design looks much neater.
This term, we’re excited to welcome Leizel Myburgh and Oliver Fabinyi to the HV team. Both teachers bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the school. You may recognise them as they have both been working here in a casual capacity this year.
We are both saddened and excited to announce that Ashley Kalkandis has been successful in gaining the substantive Principal role at Colac West Primary School. She has been at Colac since the start of Term 2 as the Acting Principal . Ashley has been a dedicated and important part of the HV Leadership Team for 5 years and will be greatly missed, we wish her the best of luck in her new role.
2025 PASS Awards
We’re delighted to share the Hamlyn Views PASS Award nominations for 2025.
Outstanding Allied Health Award –
Bingyao Lui
Bingyao has been nominated for her exceptional work in music therapy. She supports students with a wide range of abilities and complex needs, tailoring each session to strengthen communication, social connection, emotional regulation, and self-expression. Her blend of clinical skill and creativity allows students to engage with learning through their strengths and interests.
Outstanding Team Award – Lia Van Arkadie and Taryn Mahon
Lia and Taryn have been recognised for their outstanding work in developing our Senior Secondary Program. This two-year program will offer students rich experiences across Community Connect, Future Pathways, Business Enterprise, and Personal Development. It focuses on the functional skills students need to live as independently as possible — things like preparing meals, handling money, using public transport, and gaining workplace experience. At the same time, it builds confidence, communication, and social skills, with student voice at its heart.
We’re incredibly proud of all our nominees and their remarkable contributions this year. Good luck to everyone!
World Teachers Day
Next Friday, October 31, we’ll recognise the dedication and impact of our teachers. Their professionalism, care, and creativity make a real difference every day, helping students to grow, learn, and thrive. We’re proud of the work they do and grateful to work alongside such a committed team. Wishing all our teachers a well-deserved day of appreciation.
School Concert
We’re getting very excited about our upcoming concert . A huge thank you to all staff for the time and creativity that’s gone into preparing for this event — especially Georgie Trimble for her coordination and leadership. There will be a full dress rehearsal this Friday and then we can’t wait to share this celebration with our school community the following Friday, October 31st.
