Mary Poppins – A True Celebration of Talent and Community
What an incredible two nights we have just shared with our school community through our production of Mary Poppins. The show was a true celebration of creativity, talent, teamwork and the joy of coming together to create something special for our children.
Most of all, we celebrate our students. From the first auditions through to the final bows, they have shown extraordinary dedication – learning lines, practising songs, mastering choreography and, most importantly, growing in confidence each step of the way. On performance nights, they gave their very best. Their smiles, energy and teamwork filled the stage with joy and reminded us all of why we create these opportunities: to let our children’s gifts flourish.
There were so many memorable moments: Mary Poppins floating in with grace, Bert lighting up the stage with fun and energy, and Jane and Michael Banks bringing warmth and humour to the story. Our talented ensemble cast and dancers added colour and magic to every scene, while our hardworking backstage crew ensured every costume, prop and set change was ready at just the right time. Whether in a lead role, chorus, dance group, or working behind the scenes, every student played an important part in creating something memorable that will stay with them – and us – for years to come.
Productions of this scale are only possible because of the many hands and hearts that give so generously. A special thanks to our Audition Team – Rose Restaino, Lucy Levitt and Fiona Macnally – for setting the tone from the very beginning. To our wonderful P & F Association, thank you for your tireless work with fundraising and the canteen, which helped bring the production to life.
We are also deeply grateful to the many parent helpers who supported in countless ways, especially with props and costumes, and to the talented sewers – Jo Eady, Jo Bernadino and Leanne Ngo – whose handiwork was seen on stage each night. A huge thank you also to Cathy Bartlett for her incredible work painting the sets, and to my own family for their patience and support throughout the journey.
A heartfelt thank you to all of our staff for your commitment, energy, prop making and generosity both in the lead-up to the show and on the two performance nights. Whether working behind the scenes, front of house, or supporting our students in rehearsals and during the shows, your contribution was invaluable. In particular:
- Emma Cooper, Director, whose vision, leadership and tireless work brought Mary Poppins to life on our stage
- Milena Santora, for her creativity with props and art
- Rachel Gurvich, who stepped up so brilliantly as Assistant Director.
This production has been a true whole-school and community effort. It has reminded us of the strength, generosity and spirit that make our school so special. Most importantly, it has allowed our children to shine – and they were, without doubt, practically perfect in every way.
I hope you all have the opportunity for a rest over the coming holidays and look forward to another term of excitement. Remember, anything can happen if you let it.
PBL Lunch with the Principal
The PBL winners' lunch with the principal is a reward for students who have demonstrated positive behavior or achieved goals in a school's Positive Behavior for Learning (PBL) program.
Today we had 10 Students who were recognized for their efforts. They enjoyed the chips, potato cakes and dim sim lunch with me. They have also given some great ideas on school improvement such as nude food day to reduce rubbish. Congratulatiosn to all of the PBL lunch winners.
Regards
